The Pelican – Construction and Details

I was lucky to find a fabric that was perfect for the water so all I had to do was enhance the shadow of the bird. The town in the back is thread painted. I left a bit of the wing unsewn to lend dimension and softness. Here is a gallery of the process as well as some detail of the final work.
