I had seen art quilts on TV and I was always fascinated. There’s one that hangs behind Nancy Zieman on her show and I really wish she’d talk about it! It’s so gorgeous and my favorite subject – trees. My friend, Robin Bradford, had posted a photo of the Barton Creek Greenbelt in Austin, TX on Facebook and it was so beautiful, I decided to give it a try. I did myself a favor I thought, and did a very small version only about 18″ square. I learned a lot but found this art form to be very slow, relaxing and something I could understand although I’m not sure why since I’d never done anything like this before.

I did eventually go back and do the next one larger so I could fit a lot more detail in there. The background is covered in a sheer fabric with sparkles so you really have to see it in person to get the full affect.

The Large Version is for sale and  you may contact me for sales information by clicking here.
