Faux Painted Floors – Guest Room

I painted this over several times before I finally decided on this slate looking tile. I simply painted the whole floor by sponging several layers of color over black. After thoroughly dried, I taped off the grout lines and painted them last. I use a paint that has no tint so that I can add my own. I like to use natural and neutral colors mixing them on the sponges so that I get naturally varied colors in the same family. Tints are sometimes difficult to find and you can use acrylics but they can get expensive. Behr Deep Base is the only paint I can find that is truly tint free. I also use it to seal in the paint.
